The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Ekiti State to June 14 ahead of the June 20 governorship election.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, announced the extension during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado-Ekiti, assuring residents that the Commission was fully prepared to conduct a free, fair and credible poll.

He disclosed that 2,077 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) are eligible to vote in the election, adding that assistive devices, including Braille ballot guides and magnifying glasses, would be provided to ensure their participation.

Amupitan urged political parties to uphold the peace accord they signed and warned against violence, stressing that the election must remain peaceful and transparent.

Meanwhile, Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Bunmi Omoseyindemi, said non-sensitive materials had been secured, while sensitive materials would be deployed next week. He also called for issue-based campaigns ahead of the poll.
