Ekiti Poll: Amupitan Declares Readiness for June 20, Warns Against Fake News

INEC Chairman, Prof. Amupitan, says the Commission is fully prepared for the June 20 Ekiti governorship election following a successful mock accreditation exercise across selected polling units.

Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, Amupitan said the BVAS performed efficiently, with voter authentication taking between five and seven seconds. He added that backup devices and technical support teams had been deployed to tackle any technical issues.

He assured stakeholders that polls would open simultaneously in all 2,445 polling units by 8:30 a.m., but warned that fake news and unauthorised declaration of results remain major threats to the credibility and peace of the election.
