Falana Praises Babalola, Urges Youths to Shun Internet Fraud

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has praised Aare Afe Babalola for his contributions to education and the legal profession, urging Nigerian youths to embrace hard work and shun internet fraud.

Falana spoke at the third Afe Babalola Day celebration at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), themed “A Celebration of Life, Legacy, Service and Impact.”

He described Babalola’s rise from a modest educational background to becoming a renowned lawyer as an inspiration to young Nigerians.

Falana noted that Babalola pursued further education through correspondence studies, qualified as a lawyer in Nigeria and England, and became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

He also highlighted Babalola’s contribution to the legal profession, including mentoring other senior advocates.

However, Falana criticised governments for failing to address illiteracy and youth unemployment.

He expressed concern over billions of naira in Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) funds reportedly left unaccessed or unused by state governments and the Federal Capital Territory.

Falana said Nigeria must prioritise education and development instead of focusing mainly on political campaigns.

In his remarks, Babalola thanked the organisers and urged young people to uphold integrity, discipline and excellence.

Earlier, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, commended Babalola for his contributions to humanity and societal development.
