Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), will graduate 2,194 students at its 14th convocation ceremonies scheduled for October 14 to 21, 2026.

The university will also honour three Nigerians for their contributions to business, education and national development.

The honorary Doctor of Letters recipients are Professor Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines; entrepreneur Niyi John Olajide; and businesswoman and philanthropist Princess Dr Rosemary Osula Mku-Atu.

ABUAD Founder and Chancellor, Aare Afe Babalola, will also receive honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from Trinity Western University in Canada and Trinity International University in the United States.

The university said 1,759 students completed undergraduate and professional programmes, while 435 completed postgraduate studies.

Among the graduands, 286 earned First Class degrees, 824 obtained Second Class Upper degrees, 234 earned Second Class Lower degrees, and 29 graduated with Third Class degrees.

The convocation lecture will hold on October 20. Professor Okonkwo will speak on the theme, “Functional Education and the Nigeria Project: Strategic Human Capital Development for National Renewal.”

Olarinde said ABUAD had grown from 103 graduands at its first convocation in 2013 to 2,194 this year.

She urged the graduates to uphold integrity, discipline and service, adding that education should equip young people with practical skills to solve problems and contribute to national development.
