FCT Police Arrest Suspected Bandits in Viral AK-47 Video

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers featured in a viral video displaying AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and walkie-talkies while dressed in military camouflage.

FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi said the arrests followed a detailed investigation launched after the video surfaced online.

According to him, police conducted a digital forensic analysis to trace the source of the footage. The investigation led operatives of the FCT Police VCRU Sector 5 and officers from the Zuba Division to a hideout in Runji Village, Zuba.

The operation was carried out on May 25 at about 3:22 a.m. and resulted in the arrest of three suspects.

The suspects were identified as Umar Babangida, 25; Adamu Yeti, 22; and Yahaya Idris, 24. All three are residents of Rijana in Kaduna State.

Police said investigations showed the suspects previously possessed the AK-47 rifles seen in the video. The weapons were allegedly supplied by a gang leader identified only as “Esco,” who remains at large.

Further searches of the suspects’ mobile phones reportedly uncovered more videos and photographs showing them carrying rifles, walkie-talkies, and wearing military camouflage.

The suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators. Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest other gang members and recover the weapons.
