Ekiti 2026: CSOs Urge Parties To Avoid Violence

Civil society organisations under the Election Observation Hub have urged political parties and candidates in the June 20, 2026 Ekiti governorship election to resolve disputes through lawful and judicial channels instead of violence.

The groups also called on security agencies to implement “Operation Order 08/2026” to tackle kidnapping and insecurity, especially in Ikole, Moba and Ilejemeje local government areas identified as high-risk flashpoints.

Speaking during a media briefing in Ado-Ekiti, the coalition warned against vote buying, political thuggery, disinformation and excessive militarisation during the election.

The groups further urged INEC to strengthen BVAS and IReV operations, while advising political parties to embrace issue-based campaigns and uphold the Peace Accord.
