INEC urges deeper stakeholder cooperation to drive CVR momentum in Ekiti

INEC is calling for stronger stakeholder collaboration across Ekiti State to sustain momentum in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, delivered the charge in Ado-Ekiti during a stakeholders’ meeting at the commission’s headquarters, urging communities, institutions, and civic groups to intensify mobilisation of eligible citizens.

He noted that Phase One of the exercise, which began on 25 August 2025, has so far been peaceful and orderly statewide. The phase runs until 10 December 2025, offering residents the window to register or update personal details, including change of name, address, or polling unit.

Omoseyindemi underscored the significance of the claims and objections period scheduled for 15 December, describing it as a vital safeguard for transparency and accuracy of voter data. He encouraged stakeholders to observe the process closely and report irregularities.

The REC added that Phase Two of the CVR will begin on 5 January 2026 for citizens unable to participate earlier, calling for sustained sensitisation to ensure broad inclusion.

He emphasised that the success of the CVR rests on collective vigilance and partnership, framing the voter roll as the heartbeat of a credible election. INEC, he said, remains committed to a transparent, trustworthy process, seeking the cooperation of all actors to secure a register that reflects the will of Ekiti people.
