Police Arrest 11 Suspects Over Plot to Disrupt APC Primaries in Ekiti

The Nigeria Police Force in Ekiti has arrested 11 suspected political thugs linked to an attempt to disrupt the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary election.

Ekiti Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, said the arrests followed intelligence reports of armed suspects gathered at Onikoyi Hotel in Ikun-Ekiti.

Police operatives raided the hotel and arrested seven suspects, while others fled. Recovered items included two pump-action guns, one Beretta pistol, live ammunition, suspected charms, laptops, and a Honda Accord.

A follow-up operation led to the arrest of four more suspects inside an unregistered Toyota Sienna bus, where another pump-action gun was recovered.

Police said the suspects confessed to being hired by Hon. Davidson Akinlayo, a member of the House of Representatives representing Moba/Ilejemeje/Ido-Osi Federal Constituency, to disrupt the APC primary.

The Command said investigations are ongoing and all suspects will be charged in court.
