The Ekiti State Government, in partnership with National Assembly members from the state, has launched a free medical outreach for residents across communities.
The programme is providing surgeries, free drugs and health education to hundreds of beneficiaries.
Speaking during an eye surgery exercise at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, the coordinator, Princess Oluwaseye Babatunde, said the initiative was designed to improve the health and well-being of residents.

She said the outreach, facilitated by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, had delivered essential healthcare services to many people.
“The initiative is a people-centered intervention driven by the commitment of the state government to improve the well-being of its citizens,” she said.
An ophthalmology expert, Dr. Kamal Umar, said several patients had received treatment for eye conditions, including cataract and glaucoma.

He added that the programme also focused on preventive healthcare and early diagnosis.
Beneficiaries praised the state government and lawmakers for bringing quality healthcare closer to the grassroots.
