Oyebanji Gets N25m Boost as Hometown Rallies for Re-election

Residents of Ikogosi Ekiti, hometown of Biodun Oyebanji, have thrown their weight behind his re-election bid with a N25 million donation to his campaign council, days ahead of the official launch of his statewide tour.

The show of support came during a colourful solidarity rally held on Saturday at the town square, where community members—ranging from traditional leaders and youths to market women and transport unions—gathered in branded campaign attire, singing and dancing in endorsement of the governor.

Presenting the cheque to the campaign’s Director General, Cyril Fasuyi, President of the Ikogosi Progressive Union, Chief Olusola Agbaje, said the gesture was in recognition of the governor’s impact over the past three and a half years.

Agbaje highlighted key interventions, including the restoration of electricity to the community after about 15 years and major infrastructural improvements that have stimulated economic and social activities.

He added that the donation reflects strong grassroots backing for the governor and signals the community’s readiness to deliver votes in the June 20 governorship poll, as well as support for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.

Speakers at the rally praised Oyebanji’s leadership style, describing his administration as people-focused and impactful. Chairman of the planning committee, Engr. Tayo Olajubu, said residents were fully mobilised and prepared to re-elect the governor.

In his remarks, Fasuyi commended the community for its loyalty and urged residents to extend mobilisation efforts across Ekiti West Local Government to ensure a decisive victory. He also assured them of continued dividends of good governance in a second term.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Niyi Adebayo, described the donation as proof of Oyebanji’s widespread acceptance, noting that his support base remains strong both at home and across the state. He expressed confidence that the election would favour the ruling party.
