EKSU Chancellor Urges Graduates to Use Certificates for Real-World Impact

Speaking at the university’s 30th convocation ceremony in Ado-Ekiti, Olowolafe urged graduates to move beyond academic comfort zones and embrace innovative thinking in tackling societal problems.

He emphasised that the value of education lies not in certificates earned but in the impact graduates make, noting that contemporary global issues demand courage, creativity and the willingness to explore unfamiliar paths.

According to him, real-life challenges do not recognise academic boundaries or grades but instead require bold individuals ready to act even when faced with uncertainty.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Joseph Babatola, commended Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for the trust placed in his administration. He also urged the graduating students to uphold the university’s values, stressing that their character and conduct would define their legacy.

A total of 10,959 students graduated during the ceremony. Of these, 284 earned diplomas, including 11 distinctions, while 10,125 received first degrees across various classifications. The university also awarded 550 postgraduate degrees, comprising doctoral, master’s and postgraduate diploma qualifications.
