APC Names Bamidele to Head Oyebanji’s 2026 Ekiti Campaign Council

The Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Leader, has been appointed to head the 57-member campaign council of the All Progressives Congress for the re-election bid of Biodun Oyebanji in the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.

The council list, released by the state APC chairman, Sola Elesin, includes key party stakeholders such as former governorship aspirant Kayode Ojo and Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, alongside four former deputy governors, lawmakers, party elders, youth representatives and local government party chairmen.

According to the statement, Elesin will serve as vice chairman of the campaign council, while the governor’s Chief of Staff, Niyi Adebayo, will act as secretary.

The campaign council is scheduled to be inaugurated at the APC State Secretariat on March 9, 2026.

The party also constituted an advisory council chaired by former governor Niyi Adebayo, with other past governors serving as co-chairmen.

APC said the formation of the councils signals its readiness to formally launch campaign activities across the state ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election, in which Oyebanji is seeking a second term.

The party added that statewide sensitisation visits have begun across local government areas, with full campaign activities expected to start after the ongoing Ramadan and Lent fasting periods.
