England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has won the 2026 Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Englishman to claim football’s prestigious individual award since Michael Owen in 2001.
The 33-year-old received the award at a ceremony held at the London Palladium on Monday, October 26, beating Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal to the prize.

Kane enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season, scoring 73 goals for Bayern Munich and England in 65 appearances.
His goals helped Bayern win the Bundesliga title and German Cup, while he also contributed to England’s third-place finish at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The award makes Kane only the fifth Englishman to win the men’s Ballon d’Or, joining Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Owen.
Kane also won the Gerd Müller Trophy for the best striker, capping a remarkable season for the England international.
His triumph ends a 25-year wait for England to produce a winner of football’s most prestigious individual honour.
