Niger State has recorded a significant decline in farmer-herder clashes due to improved security collaboration and inclusive government policies, Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Umar Rebe, has said.
Speaking at a media briefing in Minna, Rebe said the government has integrated pastoral communities into development programmes, created a database of herders and strengthened collaboration with security agencies to prevent conflicts.

He added that peace committees and sustained advocacy campaigns have also contributed to the reduction in clashes.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, represented by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said security agencies have intensified operations against banditry and strengthened intelligence gathering.
He said peace committees have been established in all 25 local government areas to promote dialogue between farmers and herders and prevent disputes from escalating into violence.
