Military Recovers Late Major General Abubakar’s Wife After Bandit Abduction

Troops of the Nigerian Army, backed by the Air Force, have rescued Mrs Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, weeks after she was abducted alongside her husband by bandits in Katsina State.

The Defence Headquarters announced on Monday that the rescue followed intensified search-and-rescue operations by troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA.

According to the military, troops engaged the kidnappers at Tunga Village during ongoing offensives against criminal groups in the area. The bandits reportedly shot Mrs Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing under pressure from advancing troops.

Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, said the victim was immediately evacuated to a military hospital, where she is responding to treatment.

The Armed Forces pledged continued support for her recovery and vowed to sustain operations aimed at tracking down those responsible for the abduction and other terrorist activities across the country.

Major General Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, died in captivity after he and his wife were kidnapped by bandits.
