U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that a deal between the United States and Iran is “now complete,” signaling the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the resumption of oil shipments through one of the world’s most important maritime routes.
In a statement shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he had authorised the “toll-free opening” of the Strait of Hormuz and the immediate removal of the U.S. naval blockade in the area.
“The Deal with Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” Trump wrote.

The development follows weeks of intense diplomatic efforts reportedly mediated by Pakistan. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that both countries had agreed to an immediate halt to military operations, with an official signing ceremony expected to take place in Switzerland later this week.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global trade route through which nearly a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes. News of the agreement has already triggered a decline in global oil prices as markets reacted positively to the prospect of reduced tensions in the Middle East.
However, details of the agreement remain limited, and questions persist over its implementation, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear programme and the position of regional allies.
If formally signed and implemented, the deal could mark a significant turning point in U.S.-Iran relations and help stabilise global energy markets after months of uncertainty.
