Arsenal’s FA Cup journey came to a stunning end on Saturday after a 2–1 defeat to Southampton in the quarter-finals.

Despite entering the tie as favourites, Mikel Arteta’s side were undone by defensive lapses and a late sucker punch at St Mary’s.

Southampton struck first through Ross Stewart in the 35th minute after a costly error, before Viktor Gyökeres restored parity for Arsenal in the second half. However, substitute Shea Charles delivered the decisive blow in the 85th minute, sealing a famous upset for the Championship side.

The defeat marks Arsenal’s exit from yet another domestic competition, piling pressure on a season that once promised silverware but is now facing difficult questions.
