Peter Obi’s Convoy Blocked in Benue, Forced to Turn Back

The convoy of NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi was on Tuesday blocked by youths in Makurdi, Benue State, forcing him to turn back.

Obi was reportedly heading to Yelewata in Guma Local Government Area to visit families affected by the deadly 2025 attack in the community.

The youths reportedly barricaded the road and chanted, “Obi go back,” as his convoy approached.

Obi later left Benue after the incident.

The former Anambra State governor described the development as “worrisome” and said he visited the state to sympathise with victims of the Yelewata attack, not for political campaigning.

The Benue State Government denied involvement in the incident, saying it was not aware of Obi’s visit.

The incident has sparked fresh concerns about political activities and security ahead of the 2027 general elections.
