Roaming Cattle in Abuja Still a Problem, Wike Admits

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has apologised to residents over the continued presence of roaming cattle on major roads and streets across Abuja, accepting responsibility for the lingering problem.

Speaking during his monthly media briefing on Monday, Wike acknowledged concerns raised by residents and motorists, assuring them that efforts were ongoing to address the situation.

“I apologise that up till now there are cows still roaming the streets of Abuja. I take responsibility,” the minister said.

Wike also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory, stressing that development efforts were not limited to the city centre but extended to communities in the Area Councils.

According to him, the projects include road construction, water supply and housing initiatives aimed at improving living conditions across the territory.

The minister further announced that the Federal Capital Territory Administration would commission projects for 31 consecutive days beginning June 8 as part of activities marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third year in office.

He added that road projects completed across the FCT had improved access to communities and enhanced security, while insisting that residents could already feel the impact of the administration’s policies and programmes.
