Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered immediate repairs and tighter security around critical infrastructure after a section of the newly commissioned ₦8.52 billion Lameco Flyover in Osogbo developed structural defects barely three weeks after its inauguration.
The 672-metre flyover, inaugurated on July 1, 2026, is part of the state’s ₦100 billion multi-flyover infrastructure programme aimed at improving transportation across Osogbo, Ile-Ife, Owode-Ede and Ikirun.

The affected section of the bridge was temporarily closed after a prolonged downpour caused part of the carriageway to sink, creating a depression that raised safety concerns.
Following an inspection of the site with officials from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Adeleke said preliminary findings pointed to vandalism and sabotage rather than construction failure. He said he received a briefing from the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Bashiru Bello, on the incident.

In a post on his official X account, the governor praised engineers for their swift response and condemned those he described as saboteurs bent on destroying public assets.
“It is unfortunate that some saboteurs, whose sole objective is to undermine our developmental strides and destroy the legacy of this administration, would resort to attacking public infrastructure built with taxpayers’ resources,” Adeleke said.
He assured residents that repair works had commenced immediately and vowed to strengthen surveillance to protect government infrastructure across the state.
