Ekiti Peace Corps Commandant Calls for Peaceful Christmas, Backs Oyebanji

The Ekiti State Commandant of the Peace Corps, Hon. Dele Owoju, has urged residents to uphold peace, unity and responsible citizenship during the Christmas season, describing peace as essential to sustainable development in the state.

In a Christmas goodwill message issued in Ado-Ekiti, Owoju congratulated Christians on the celebration, noting that Christmas symbolises love, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence. He called on residents to use the festive period to strengthen communal ties, respect the rule of law and promote harmony across communities.

“As we celebrate Christmas, we must renew our commitment to peace, tolerance and mutual respect, which are vital for Ekiti’s stability and growth,” he said.

Ahead of the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election, Owoju appealed for peaceful participation in the democratic process, urging youths to shun violence, misinformation and actions capable of disrupting public order.

He also canvassed support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructure development, stability and citizens’ welfare.

According to him, continuity in leadership would help consolidate peace and development in the state. He reaffirmed the readiness of the Peace Corps to collaborate with security agencies and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful election.

Owoju concluded by wishing residents a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
