The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose; and former national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
The decision was taken on Saturday at the party’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, after Chief Olabode George, former National Vice Chairman (South), moved the motion for expulsion. The motion was seconded by Hon. Samaila Burga, Chairman of the PDP in Bauchi State.

The expulsions follow intensified internal disputes, with the Wike-aligned faction earlier attempting to stop the convention through a court order. However, the party secured a favourable judgment from an Oyo State High Court to proceed with the event.
Ahead of the convention, Mao Ohuabunwa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Wike-led faction, dismissed the gathering as illegal, saying anyone attending would merely be “going to relax,” describing it as a “jamboree.” He argued that a circular issued by Anyanwu had already announced a postponement of the convention.
Similarly, the faction’s acting national chairman, Abdulrahman Muhammad, urged delegates to boycott the event, insisting they were focused on building a “united and stronger PDP” while remaining committed to court directives.
Wike, reacting earlier, praised supporters for defending the party in their respective states and vowed to remain committed to upholding the constitution. “I won’t betray those who believe in the values of the party,” he said.
