House of Representatives member representing Ado Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, Tunji Akinosi, has dismissed fears over U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to deploy military forces to Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians. Akinosi described Trump’s comments as politically motivated and unnecessary, stressing that Nigeria has made notable progress in its fight against insecurity and economic recovery.
Speaking during the 2025 Ayetoro Yewa Day celebration and the launch of a ₦1 billion Arcade and Civic Centre, Akinosi expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, noting that his administration is “decisively and steadily” addressing security challenges. He emphasized that insecurity did not start under Tinubu’s government but that significant strides are being made to restore peace across the country.
Akinosi assured citizens that there was no cause for alarm, urging Nigerians to remain calm and united in supporting government efforts. “Whatever President Trump said is a political statement. These criminals killing innocent Nigerians do not discriminate by race or religion. President Tinubu is resolute in ending insecurity, and we in the National Assembly are fully backing him,” he stated.
Also at the event, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, lauded the Tinubu I’m administration for prioritizing infrastructure and social welfare. He revealed that the Federal Government had awarded road projects worth ₦550 billion covering four local government areas in Yewa, Ogun State. The ceremony drew several dignitaries, including lawmakers and business leaders, who commended ongoing federal efforts to develop the region.
