BREAKING: President Tinubu swears in Amupitan as new INEC chairman

President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Joash Amupitan as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Amupitan was sworn in at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
The new INEC chairman arrived at the State House dressed in a white agbada, paired with a gold cap.

Amupitan’s emergence followed the expiration of the tenure of former INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu.

Last week Thursday, the Senate confirmed Amupitan as the new INEC Chairman following a screening session and voice vote by lawmakers.
