President Bola Tinubu has approved the release of N10 billion in emergency funding to strengthen Nigeria’s preparedness against a possible Ebola outbreak following renewed cases in parts of Africa.
According to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the fund will support the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention and enhance the country’s emergency response capacity.
Tinubu also approved the creation of a Presidential Task Force on Ebola Virus Disease Preparedness and Emerging Public Health Threats, to be chaired by Femi Gbajabiamila.
The Federal Government has intensified surveillance at borders and international airports, including passenger screening, temperature checks, health declarations, and the activation of isolation centres in Lagos and Abuja.
Authorities said the measures are aimed at preventing the importation and spread of Ebola in Nigeria.
