Danish football star Christian Eriksen is conscious and receiving medical care after collapsing during Denmark’s international friendly against Ukraine on Sunday.
The frightening incident happened in the second half of the match, forcing officials to abandon the game. Players from both teams immediately gathered around Eriksen as medical personnel rushed onto the pitch to attend to him.
In a statement, the Danish Football Association confirmed that the midfielder is conscious and “doing well under the current circumstances.”

The incident has brought back memories of Eriksen’s collapse during Denmark’s Euro 2020 match against Finland in 2021. The midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch and was revived by medical staff before being taken to hospital.
Following that incident, Eriksen underwent treatment and was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), a device that helps regulate dangerous heart rhythms. He later made a remarkable return to professional football and continued his career at the highest level.
Fans, players, and football clubs across the world have since flooded social media with messages of support for the Danish international as they await further updates on his condition
