The Federal Government has confirmed that the long-delayed Abuja–Kaduna Highway is now 80 per cent complete, with 60 kilometres of its redesigned concrete pavement delivered and the remaining stretch scheduled for completion by the end of April.
The Federal Ministry of Works disclosed this during an inspection tour under the National Media Tour, describing the highway as one of Nigeria’s most strategic transport corridors.
The project was re-awarded to Infouest Nigeria Limited after the termination of its previous contract with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. According to Chukwuma Kalu, Controller of Works, the road was redesigned from asphalt to Continuous Reinforced Concrete Pavement to enhance durability and reduce maintenance costs.

Of the 81 kilometres of dual carriage CRCP lanes, 60 kilometres have been completed, leaving 21 kilometres outstanding. Construction teams are working day and night shifts to meet the April deadline.
In a related development, the 43.65-kilometre Maraba–Keffi Road reconstruction project, handled by China Harbour Engineering Construction Company, is 90 per cent complete and expected to be delivered by June 2026 under the Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme.
Officials said both projects reflect the infrastructure drive of President Bola Tinubu, aimed at improving connectivity, enhancing road safety and stimulating economic growth nationwide.
