Tinubu Mourns Former Ogun First Lady, Lucia Onabanjo

President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the Ogun State Government and the Onabanjo family over the death of Chief Lucia Onabanjo, former First Lady of the state.

Mrs Onabanjo, wife of Ogun State’s first civilian governor, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, died on Monday at the age of 101.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described the late matriarch as a woman of compassion whose life was devoted to service to humanity.

The President said her impact was evident in the tributes that followed her passing, noting her charitable contributions to her community, Ogun State and the nation.

Tinubu also praised her role during her husband’s tenure as governor between 1979 and 1983, highlighting her strong support and commitment to issues affecting children and the empowerment of women.

He urged the Ogun State Government and the Onabanjo family to immortalise her by upholding the values she stood for, particularly her concern for the poor and vulnerable, while praying for divine comfort for the family.
