A three-storey building has collapsed in Wuse, Abuja, barely hours after officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) sealed the structure and ordered occupants to vacate.

The building collapsed on Monday evening, September 7, with the FCT Police Command receiving a distress call at about 7:45 p.m.

The building was located around Abidjan Street in Wuse, although reports differed on the specific zone.

The FCTA Development Control Department had earlier marked and sealed the building after it reportedly showed signs of distress and directed occupants to leave the premises.

Following the collapse, emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, NEMA, FRSC, FERMA, police and FCTA officials, rushed to the scene to conduct search and rescue operations.

Three ambulances were also deployed to the location.

As of the latest update, no casualty had been officially confirmed, while rescue teams continued searching the rubble for anyone who might be trapped.

The police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
