Delta Police Arrest Asaba Content Creator Over Alleged Rape, Death of 20-Year-Old Woman

The Delta State Police Command has arrested popular Asaba-based content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” over allegations that he raped a 20-year-old woman who later died by suicide after accusing him of sexual assault.

The deceased, identified as Favour Agbro from Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, allegedly travelled to Asaba after the suspect promised to mentor her in content creation and teach her how to earn money by monetising her TikTok and Facebook pages.

According to police, the suspect allegedly took the young woman to a hotel, where she was raped and physically assaulted. She later returned home traumatised and reportedly informed her family about the incident before recording an emotional video detailing her ordeal. Investigators said she subsequently ingested a poisonous substance and died despite efforts to save her.

The arrest followed a petition submitted to the Delta State Police Command. Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe said the suspect has been taken into custody and has made statements that are aiding the investigation. Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted and that justice would take its course.

The case has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many Nigerians calling for justice for the deceased and stronger protection for women against sexual violence.
