Residents Raise Alarm Over Offensive Odour in Ado Ekiti

Residents of Ado Ekiti and nearby communities have raised concerns over a persistent offensive odour spreading across parts of the state capital, calling for urgent government intervention over possible health and environmental risks.

Many described the smell as unusual, disturbing and at times overwhelming, sparking fears of air pollution or toxic exposure.

Affected residents also took to Facebook and X to express concerns, identifying parts of Ado Ekiti and Ikere as impacted areas.

Public affairs and security expert Deolu Oyebode warned that the situation mirrors the Koko toxic waste incident and urged authorities to act swiftly to avoid environmental and health dangers.

Residents have called on the Ekiti State Ministry of Environment to conduct immediate air quality tests, identify the source of the odour, and provide clear updates to the public.

Stakeholders say the incident highlights the need for stronger environmental monitoring and rapid government response.
