Family seeks help after Nigerian man dies suddenly in UK

Barely a week after the death of a Nigerian mother of three in the United Kingdom, another tragedy has struck as a Nigerian father of three, identified simply as Herbert, has been found dead in his apartment.

Herbert, who lived in Thornaby, reportedly died in his sleep last week, leaving behind his wife and three young children. His family has since appealed for financial assistance to cover funeral expenses and repatriate his remains to Nigeria.

According to a post by an X user, ‘The Stress Manager,’ Herbert had been battling emotional and financial strain following the recent death of his father in Nigeria. He was said to have contributed heavily towards his father’s burial despite being unable to travel.

Tragically, Herbert reportedly passed away on the same day his father was laid to rest.

The situation was further compounded as his children were said to have discovered his lifeless body, an experience described as deeply traumatic.

A former president of Nigerians in the UK, Benjamin Kuti, confirmed the incident and urged members of the Nigerian community to support the bereaved family.

A fundraising campaign has since been launched, with £2,633 raised so far out of a £7,000 target.

The incident comes shortly after the death of UK-based Nigerian mother of three, Omotayo Abioye, who died of breast cancer on April 5 at the age of 40.
