The Kano State Government has commenced distribution of food items under its 2026/1447AH Ramadan Feeding Programme, aimed at supporting vulnerable residents during the holy month.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the government confirmed that distribution began on February 19 at 115 feeding centres across eight metropolitan local government areas in the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the initiative is designed to ease the burden of fasting for the less privileged and promote unity among residents.

He urged members of the committee overseeing the programme to discharge their duties with transparency, integrity and accountability to ensure its success.
The committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Ahmed Tijani Auwalu, includes top government officials and advisers, as well as metropolitan local government chairmen.
The administration reaffirmed that the Ramadan Feeding Programme remains a key social intervention strategy of the government.
