FUOYE Records 310% Revenue Growth, to Graduate 7,684 Students

The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has recorded a 310 per cent increase in its internally generated revenue, underscoring its emergence as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing public universities.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Fasina, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press conference ahead of the institution’s 10th Convocation Ceremony scheduled for February 7, 2026.

Fasina said the achievements reflected significant institutional transformation over the past five years of his administration, which began in February 2021. He noted that FUOYE is currently the fourth most subscribed university in Nigeria among 303 tertiary institutions, attributing the growth to programme expansion, affordability and improved academic standards.

According to him, the university has expanded from eight to eighteen faculties, with 91 academic programmes now fully accredited in line with national manpower and development needs.

The Vice-Chancellor revealed that a total of 7,684 students will graduate at the convocation, comprising 7,396 undergraduates and 288 postgraduate students, including 131 first-class degree recipients.

He added that over 160 infrastructure projects have been completed under the administration’s “Blue Roof Legacy,” including a new Senate Building, a 1,000-seater auditorium, academic blocks, hostels, laboratories and a Computer-Based Test Centre.

Fasina further disclosed that the university has established new colleges in Medicine, Computing, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering and Data Science to support national priorities in healthcare and digital transformation.

Highlights of the convocation will include the conferment of honorary degrees on former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Samuel Onnoghen; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah; and the Oloye of Oye-Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju Adugbole.
