Boniface Pledges Support for Injured Nigerian Footballer After ACL Surgery

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has promised to support a young Nigerian footballer, identified as Grace Boy, who appealed for financial assistance to complete his physiotherapy and rehabilitation after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery.

The appeal was made via X on Friday, where the young player explained that he had surgery in Nigeria but lacked adequate follow-up care, raising fears about his chances of returning to competitive football.

In an emotional message, Grace Boy said he was seeking help to continue his rehabilitation and resume his career, while also wishing Boniface a speedy recovery from his own injury.

Responding publicly, Boniface acknowledged the struggles faced by young footballers in Nigeria, noting that he had assisted several players privately over the years.

“It no easy for young Nigeria player. I know how many player I don help without people knowing. We go try help you,” the Super Eagles forward wrote.

Boniface, who joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023, is one of Nigeria’s most prominent footballers in Europe.
