A member of the family of Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has said his estranged wife, Omotayo Sanusi, popularly known as Iyan Aladuke, was fully aware of the circumstances that led to her eviction from a Lagos property.
Reacting to social media claims that Adebayo abandoned his former partner, a family member, Mrs Taiwo Abdulmalik, said the eviction was the outcome of a bank foreclosure process, not a deliberate act by the actor.
According to her, the property was acquired through a bank loan, with foreclosure initiated after repayment challenges. She said Sanusi was informed of the loan arrangement and had prior knowledge of the bank’s recovery plans months before the eviction.
Abdulmalik said that after the bank took over the property, Adebayo relocated Sanusi, her family members and staff to a short-let apartment, which he reportedly paid for in full. She added that he also encouraged her to secure another apartment, assuring her of financial support regardless of the cost.
She further disclosed that in 2022, Adebayo allegedly bought a parcel of land beside Sanusi’s shop on Muritala Muhammed Way and registered it in her name as a backup investment, but was later informed that the land had been sold.
Addressing allegations of neglect, Abdulmalik said the actor continues to provide monthly upkeep for their son and remains actively involved in his life, adding that he spent about $50,000 last year on medical treatment for the child in India.
Sanusi, however, declined to comment on the claims, describing the issue as a private family matter.
