Veteran Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Dies at 66 After Battle With Cancer

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer.

The actor’s death was announced by his daughter, Kira Hassan, during an Instagram Live session on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The development comes just days after Ogogo’s family revealed that the veteran actor was battling stage-four cancer and appealed for urgent medical assistance.

His daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, had earlier called on medical professionals and specialised hospitals to help provide treatment for their father.

The family had also dismissed an earlier report claiming that Ogogo had died, with Lima describing the report as fake on August 18.

However, fresh reports on Sunday confirmed that the veteran actor had died following his prolonged health battle.

Ogogo was one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry and enjoyed a career spanning several decades, earning a reputation as one of Nollywood’s respected veteran actors.

His death comes after an outpouring of support and prayers from colleagues, fans and well-wishers following news of his cancer diagnosis.

More details about his death and funeral arrangements are expected to emerge from the family.
