Wike Speaks on Abuja Land Dispute, Vows Not to Bow to Intimidation

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described as “unfortunate” a confrontation with a military officer on Tuesday over an alleged land-grabbing incident in Abuja.

Speaking to reporters, Wike said the dispute arose during an FCT enforcement exercise against illegal developments, insisting he would not be intimidated.

“I was told the military had taken over the site, so I came myself. It’s really unfortunate,” he said. “I won’t succumb to blackmail or intimidation.”

Wike accused the officer of using his position to obstruct lawful action and challenged him to produce valid building documents. He confirmed contacting the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Naval Staff, who promised to address the matter.

He reaffirmed his resolve to stop all illegal developments in the FCT, saying, “I will not allow lawlessness to prevail simply because someone is a former Chief of Naval Staff.”
