The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and non-engineering Agriculture-related courses in Colleges of Education and Polytechnics will no longer be required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The announcement was made on Monday during the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions in Abuja.
Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said candidates applying for National Certificate in Education programmes with at least four credit passes would be exempted from UTME but must still register with JAMB for screening through CAPS.
He added that the exemption also applies to National Diploma programmes in non-technology agricultural and agriculture-related courses.
According to the minister, the policy is aimed at expanding access to tertiary education and encouraging more students to study Education and Agriculture.
