Midnight Raid in Katsina: Bandits Abduct Residents in Fresh Wave of Attacks

Fear returned to parts of Katsina State on Monday night as armed bandits swept through several communities, abducting residents, including children, in coordinated late-night raids

The attacks come just four months after the deadly mosque incident in Unguwar Mantau, Malumfashi Local Government Area, where worshippers were killed during evening prayers in August 2025.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed Unguwar Alhaji Barau before moving on to Gidan Dan Mai-gizo and Gidan Hazo, all in Na’alma Ward of Malumfashi. The raids reportedly lasted for hours, leaving families shaken and communities on edge.

Security agencies are yet to release an official statement. However, the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said he was not immediately aware of the incident but promised to confirm details and provide updates.

Malumfashi remains one of the most vulnerable local government areas in Katsina, where bandit attacks persist despite recent peace efforts between authorities and armed groups.
