Residents of Tegina District in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have called for urgent government intervention following renewed communal clashes between Fulani and Kamuku communities.
An eyewitness, Isah Tanko Tegina, alleged that more than 30 people were burnt to death, while at least 26 others were killed in separate attacks. He said many residents were injured, homes destroyed and thousands forced to flee into nearby bushes for safety.
Tanko said the violence, which has persisted since June 24, has continued with little intervention from government authorities and appealed to security agencies to restore peace and protect affected communities.

Meanwhile, the Niger State Police Command confirmed a series of attacks linked to a longstanding land dispute in the area.

Police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said suspected armed men attacked Godoro village on June 29, killing one person, while a reprisal attack by local vigilantes claimed another life.
He added that 15 people were later burnt to death in a two-bedroom apartment at Angwan Baago, near Godoro village, while another person was killed elsewhere, bringing the officially confirmed death toll to 18.
The police said a reconciliation committee and joint Police-Military patrols have been deployed to restore peace and prevent further violence.
