Bauchi Gets N600m UNICEF Boost Against Child Malnutrition

The United Nations Children’s Fund has donated nutrition commodities worth N600 million to the Bauchi State Government to tackle child malnutrition.

The supplies, funded through a matching grant with the Child Nutrition Fund, include therapeutic and preventive nutrition products for children.

UNICEF’s Bauchi Field Office Chief, Dr Nuzhat Rafique, said the intervention targets severe and moderate malnutrition, noting the state still records high rates of undernourished children.

She also raised concern over conditions in displacement camps, where many children are malnourished, calling for urgent support.

Receiving the items, Governor Bala Mohammed assured proper utilisation and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to improving child health and nutrition.
