The administration of Hon. Gbenga Oluwatuyi (Chenco), Executive Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, has outlined key projects executed since his inauguration on January 2, 2024, dismissing claims of underperformance.
In a statement made available to Gmartnews, the chairman highlighted road grading across Igede-Ekiti, Awo-Ekiti and neighbouring communities, dredging of Agodo River, desilting of drainages, and construction of a 150-metre drainage at Okelogbo, Igede-Ekiti, as part of flood control efforts.
Environmental interventions included evacuation of refuse at Odogede and installation of waste bins at Oja Oba market. Solar-powered streetlights were installed at Oke Owa Community Primary School and Ilogbo Street, alongside distribution of 20 home solar units.
In agriculture, the council established a piggery farm and developed yam and cocoyam plantations. Cocoa and oil palm seedlings are also being raised for economic empowerment.
Water access was expanded through boreholes in Ilamoye, Odo-Uri and Awo-Ekiti, with additional rehabilitations in Igede and Awo-Ekiti. A post-natal ward was constructed at PHC Aaye Health Centre, while a vaccine storage freezer was provided to improve immunisation services.
In collaboration with the Nigerian Medical Association, Ekiti branch, the council conducted free medical outreach programmes.
On employment, 20 casual staff and 30 workers were engaged, while 10 individuals secured full-time positions. Ten youths were facilitated into Amotekun and another 10 into the Anti-Grazing Agency. Two residents were assisted into the state civil service.
Other interventions included renovation of traditional and judicial facilities, support for widows and elderly residents, and financial assistance to fire victims in Odogede.
The administration maintains that its performance should be judged by measurable projects and documented impact across communities.
