Ojulari Hails Dangote Refinery as Symbol of National Pride

The Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bayo Ojulari, has praised billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote, describing the Dangote Petroleum Refinery as a bold technological feat and a source of national pride.

Ojulari spoke during his first official visit to the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery alongside members of the NNPC board and executive management. NNPC holds a seven per cent equity stake in the facility, widely regarded as Africa’s largest and most modern refinery.

He said Nigerians should appreciate Dangote’s “audacity” in delivering a project of such scale, noting that firsthand inspection revealed world-class digital, AI-driven and advanced mechanical systems that ensure high operational reliability despite the plant’s single-train configuration.

The NNPC chief also disclosed that the refinery had surpassed its designed capacity, hitting 661 barrels per day during testing, exceeding its 650 target.

Ojulari further revealed plans to double output through a replication model, which would expand capacity while lowering capital and operating costs by leveraging existing infrastructure.
