Akogun Family Demands Immediate Release of Abayomi ‘Lustay’

The Akogun family has called for the immediate release of Akogun Abayomi Olumide, popularly known as Lustay, from the Ado Ekiti Correctional Centre, insisting his continued detention is unjust.

Abayomi, a former Ekiti State government appointee, has remained in custody seven days after a State High Court struck out charges filed against him by the state government. The family described his January 1 arrest as based on trumped-up allegations and claimed he was harassed and intimidated in custody over his political stance.

They accused the Oyebanji administration of persecuting citizens, including members of its own party, and demanded his unconditional release.

Reacting, the Ekiti State Attorney General dismissed the claims, stating that no one is above the law. He explained that Abayomi remains in custody due to a separate, pending case before the Federal High Court over alleged unlawful possession of cannabis.
