Terrorism Can Never Be Fully Erased in Nigeria- Gumi

Dr. Ahmad Gumi, the influential Islamic scholar, has warned that neither the Federal Government nor the Nigerian Army can wipe out terrorism entirely, urging citizens to maintain perspective and patience as the nation confronts persistent insecurity.

Speaking on the recent abduction in Kwara State and the broader climate of violence, Gumi drew a parallel with global powers, noting that even the United States still wrestles with its own shadows of extremism yet remains stable.

In his words, carried with a sober cadence:

“No government can completely eliminate terrorism; even America still deals with its own challenges. But for me, things are improving, and Nigerians should exercise patience. How can we allow foreigners to use Christianity to divide us? We have lived together in peace for years.”

His remarks cast a reflective light on Nigeria’s long struggle with insurgency, reminding citizens that the path to security is a measured, ongoing journey rather than an instant victory.
