
The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims during an operation in Ribah, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, following a gun battle with bandits.
Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the rescue took place on August 15, 2025, at about 3:05 p.m. during a patrol around Dankade village.
According to him, a joint team of police operatives, vigilantes, and local hunters, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ribah, engaged the bandits in a prolonged exchange of gunfire before successfully rescuing the victims.
Those rescued were identified as 26-year-old Tukur Bello of Kembawa village, Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and 25-year-old Isyaka Abubakar of Budun village, Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The victims were said to have been abducted on August 9, 2025, while grazing cattle in Gairi forest, Zamfara State. Both men were found unharmed and taken to a medical facility for examination before being reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the bravery and professionalism of the Ribah DPO and his team. He urged them to sustain the momentum in the fight against banditry and other violent crimes.
He further called on other Divisional Police Officers across the state to intensify patrols, improve police visibility along highways, and strengthen security in vulnerable communities.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to public safety, CP Sani assured residents that the police would not relent in protecting lives and property in Kebbi State.
