Police Parade 13 Suspects In Ekiti

As one Confesses to killing the monarch…

Thirteen suspects were today paraded at the Ekiti State Police Command Headquarters, Old Iyin road, in connection to the gruesome killing of traditional rulers and the abduction of school students and teachers in Ekiti State.

Briefing newsmen on the development was the Ekiti State Assistant Inspector General of Police ,D.E Ogundare, on Sunday.

“In our bid to flush out criminal elements in the country following the killing of the two traditional rulers and abduction of Pupils and teachers in the state, a combined team of the police, Amotekun and OPC, embarked on a secret operation into the thick forest in Ikere.

During the operation, 5 suspets were arrested and several dangerous weapons were recovered from them.

The team further extended their operation through Emure-ekiti Forrest where 8 other suspects were equally apprehended.

During interrogation, a suspect named Babooga alhaji admitted he took part in the  assassination  of the two traditional rulers, he is currently giving credible information that will lead to the arrest of other gang leaders.” He said.

The AIG also announced the successful release of the 5 abducted students and teachers in Emure Ekiti. 

According to the AIG, they were rescued at the otikon forest between Emure Ekiti and Owo in Ondo State at about 1am today.

While parading the suspects, the AIG also appreciated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his relentless support in facilitating the release of the students as well as the teachers.

He also employed the general public to remain calm and be law abiding as the police will not rest until the criminals are brought to justice.
