Reno Omokri, A Special adviser on New Media to the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Johnathan have called for Nigerian states to abolish the celebration of Easter as it does not promote peace and honesty.
The social media influencers went ahead to ask why Nigeria does not have a special day to celebrate its own ancient gods, traditions and culture
He stated on Twitter formerly known as X on Easter Sunday saying;
“the most populous Black nation on Earth, why must we only have public holidays on Jewish, Christian and Islamic holy days? What about the holy days of our Traditional African Religions? Why can’t we have a public holiday for Isese, Ifa, Eledumare, and other sacred days for other African Religions?
“It does not sit well with me that all our holidays are tied to foreign religions.
“If we continue down this path, our cultures will be wiped out in less than a century.
“I visited Trinidad and Tobago, and in that Caribbean island nation, they have a holiday for African Traditional Religion every 30th of March. Yet, we in Nigeria have no such national holidays.
“Even if the Federal Government will not do it, why can’t individual states take the bull by the horns?
“What is wrong with Ifa? In the Jewish Bible, you read of God ordering the Ancient Israelites to slaughter whole ethnicities. What Samuel told Saul to do in the Name of God in 1 Samuel 15:3 was genocide. That verse reads:
“Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’”
“What Moses ordered the Ancient Israelites to do to the Midianites was nothing short of a blood lust. We see this in Numbers 31:17:
“Now, kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man.”
“But never in the history of Ifa Traditional Religion has Eledumare ordered any Lukumi Yoruba to kill. Eledumare has instead instructed through Ifa divination that anyone who kills must die.
“So, my fellow Africans, why do we reserve days to honour Judaism, Christianity, and Islam but have no days in our laws to honour our traditional religions that promote peace, community and honesty?
