A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating his father, Musa Mohammed, during an ongoing promotion examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
Monsuru was reportedly arrested on Thursday, the third day of the examination, after security personnel deployed to monitor the exercise discovered that he was writing the test on behalf of his father, an employee of the FCT Fire Service.

The incident occurred at an examination centre within the premises of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), following heightened security measures reportedly ordered by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
During questioning, Monsuru allegedly told authorities that his father was ill and had asked him to take the examination on his behalf.
However, his claim reportedly came under scrutiny when he was asked about his father’s age. Monsuru reportedly said his father was between 67 and 68 years old, while Mohammed claimed he would turn 60 in February 2027.
Further questioning also reportedly revealed inconsistencies in Mohammed’s account of his educational background. He said he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.
The father and son were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
